Building UI with Claude
October 29, 2026
Recently I have been playing around with Claude Code to see how hard is it to build UI and animations that are complex. So, I decided to make it build few cool UI component for the web.
The Family Dynamic Tray
Family was a self-custodial wallet on iOS, while its unfortunately shutdown, it had some of my favourite interactions on iOS.
The dynamic tray is by far my favourite interaction. I really like the idea of a static button that anchors the main action across screens. I find it to be a very elegant design choice.
The Dynamic Tray
It keeps a sense of continuity that makes it very easy to follow each step.
The main prompts I used here were:
Read the article https://benji.org/family-values for the principles. Download the videos. Match it pixel-by-pixel.
The rest of my prompts were some variation of:
This still doesn't look right.
X approach is wrong.
After a bunch of back and forth, lo and behold:
Honestly it came out pretty decent.
Liquid Glass
Liquid Glass was announced in 2025 by Apple. A new design language for their ecosystem. The main idea behind liquid glass is it plays around with the idea of how light is refracted by glass. There have been many attempts across to build it, but I wanted to see how far Claude could get with the simple instruction It doesn't look right yet over and over again.
This was much better than I anticipated. It did really capture it well, in my opinion.
Overall, I am impressed by how well Claude is able to build out relatively complex pieces of UI. Although it did require a bit of steering, but it was a fun exercise.
